                                         The Diploma Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Vidhyadeep University organized a seminar on “Bridging Academia to Industry: The Engineering Fresher’s Journey” on 1st October 2025 at Vidhyadeep University, Surat. The session was graced by distinguished speaker Dr. Govind Gagrani, under the guidance of Dean Dr. Vilin Parekh and Principal Dr. Vikas J Patel. The seminar aimed to prepare fresh engineering graduates for their transition from academics to professional industry environments.

The seminar began with an insightful introduction about the challenges faced by engineering students when stepping into their first job. Dr. Gagrani addressed crucial aspects that freshers must focus on to succeed in their professional journey. Key highlights included:

·          Interview Skills: Guidance on effective communication, confidence building, and presenting technical knowledge during interviews.

·          Behaviour & Manners in First Job: Importance of discipline, workplace ethics, and professional etiquette.

·          Training in the First Job: Understanding the significance of initial training sessions and adapting to new learning environments.                                  

·          Introduction to Company Structure: Familiarization with various departments, sections, and functional workflows in organizations.

·          Resume Writing: Techniques to prepare impactful resumes highlighting skills and achievements.

·          Plant Safety & Maintenance: Awareness of safety practices and maintenance responsibilities in engineering fields.

·          HR Requirement Policies: Understanding recruitment procedures, organizational policies, and employee responsibilities.

 

Outcome of the event:

 

The seminar proved highly beneficial for the students, equipping them with practical knowledge and confidence to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial expectations. Students gained clarity on professional behavior, resume preparation, and HR policies while also developing awareness about workplace safety and structured training programs. Overall, the event successfully enhanced the readiness of engineering freshers for their career journey and motivated them to excel in the professional world.
